Weekends Are For Recharging
On Saturdays and Sundays time leaves me alone, lets me move as quickly or as slowly as I choose, lets me forget-for a little while- the rush of the week.
On the weekends, I watch as Nora and Miles expend their boundless energy. They run and laugh and chase and fall and get up again.
They run and run and run until they can’t anymore. I soak in their energy, use their joy to recharge me for the week ahead. When we retreat back inside, we fall asleep, Nora and I snuggled on the couch until Miles cries for his turn.
The weight of a sleeping toddler, the smell of a sleeping toddler, the slow and steady breathing of a sleeping toddler is the reward for all of the chasing and negotiating during the waking hours.
He recharges his toddler batteries and I soak him in to recharge mine.
I can survive the long work week, recharged by their energy, their snuggles, their love.

I love this. We got to see every part of being a child–the running, the playing and the sleeping. And they are so cute at all of them!
